Stained glass is an increasingly popular form of art for the layperson to pick up. Despite the fact that it has been around for thousands of year, it has been only within the last few decades that classes and courses teaching about the art style has been widely available for large demographics of people to take part in. Now, not only is stained glass available to people in classes or courses, but stained glass making is available for people to learn and implement at home. Sometimes people take on making stained glass just as a hobby or a form of relaxation, but there are other times where people use it as an art or in order to make some supplemental or effective income. Regardless of an individual's reasons for being interested in and working within the stained glass medium, if they intend to full embrace the art and the ability to perform it, there are certain items that they need. These items include but are not limited to:

- Nothing is more important than your safety, and that is why when you are working with tools and flying shards of glass you are going to want to be wearing safety goggles. The most important item to have is a pair of safety goggles before you go forward and attempt to work on your stained glass project. Safety is paramount and you need to keep that at the forefront of your mind at all times.

- A type of glass cutter is needed for when you are ready to cut out different shapes for your stained glass pieces.

- Next what you will need are breaking pliers. These are a simple tool that you will need when working with stained glass.

- You will also need a glass grinder in order to make sure that you can file down the edges of your glass pieces neatly after you cut them.

- Solder and a soldering iron are also needed in order to weld the pieces of glass together when you are finished cutting them out and grinding the edges smooth.

- Glass is also an essential item since this is primarily what you will be working with. This is the main medium, so you will likely need a lot of this material.

- If you do not choose to use pre-colored glass sheets, you will also need to find either markers or paints that you are happy with in order to create and add color to your designs.

- Patterns are important so that you will be able to cut out and make artwork based on a pre-fabricated design. This will save you time and help you to move your work along quickly.

- Binding pliers are also a necessary tool when it comes to creating stained glass creations.

- Lastly, you will need a surface area upon which to do your work. You will want to give yourself plenty of space so you can spread out and keep everything organized.

Stained glass equipment can extend much farther than just these listed items, but a lot of that depends on a specific person's interests and intentions. If they prefer not to have specific items, there are other ones that can be implemented instead. The important thing is for the individual to have the necessary stained glass equipment to be able to produce effective and stunning works of art within the stained glass medium.
