Mounting a rifle scope is a little different for each type of rifle but the general process is pretty much the same. But for our 10 steps will assume that we have a Leupold 3-9 Power Scope, Millet Scope Rings, a 2 piece windage with adjustable scope base, and a Remington 700 rifle all fairly common equipment for hunting.

To achieve the maximum accuracy follow these 10 steps:

1. First of all you need to make sure the gun is unloaded and that the safety is on.2. Then mount the rifle in a vise that is padded with the muzzle as far away from the wall as possible.3. Attach your scope mount base securely to the rifle.4. Take your level and lay it across the base horizontal to the bore and then level it out using the power of the vise. When it is level lock it down.5. Attach your scope ring and then make sure that the scope is able to lie down into the rings without having to adjust them.6. Take your scope and put it between 2 blocks and then spin the scope watching the crosshairs. Check for wobble and adjust until there is no wobble. This is the most important step when it comes to accuracy.7. Make sure the rig remains level in your vise and then set the rings.8. On the wall draw a vertical and horizontal line that looks like a sign.9. Remove the rifle bolt and then look through the bore centering your sign.10. Align the vertical post in the scope with the vertical line on the wall using the windage screws.

If you've followed these steps what you should have now is a scope that has been correctly mounted and within the tolerances it was machined to. In no time at all you'll have a proper mount that will provide years of accurate shooting with just the occasional tweaking.

You see mounting a rifle scope isn't that difficult. Are you up for the challenge?
