For a traditional anniversary, silver is the metal and the color. Also, you can organize it as a second wedding reception and all must be very formal. For contemporary parties, you can use all the traditional motifs, but the formality level will be lower. A large traditional party will require careful planning and preparation from you. A list of guests is a must and the location must be picked according to the needs. You can organize the party at home, but larger places with parking accommodations are a better idea for such an anniversary. Then, you need to make the invitations. You can order them from a professional designer, or you can make them at home. Remember to inform the guests whether it is a formal party or not, and keep everything secret from your parents, as this is a surprise event.Silver is the main motif, as said earlier. This means that the decorations must incorporate it; use silver as a basis color and little accessories that resemble this metal. An iris flower on each table will complete the decorations, as this flower is considered emblematic for such occasions. The food you will serve is very important. First, you need to have plenty. Second, if you are on a strict budget, just serve shrimp cocktails and appetizers. A wedding cake must complete the menu. The relationship between your parents must be the centre of attention. This means that you have to create a picture slide or a CD containing all the important moments in your parents life together. Play their favorite song or the song on which they danced at their wedding, and ask them to dance once again. What would an anniversary be without a toast? As you are the organizer, you will say it, and I bet that you know what to say to them. The gift is very important. According to your budget, pick something for them, that they will remember after the party is over. A good idea is to offer them a second honeymoon, a trip to a romantic place. If this is out of your budget, you can politely ask other guests to contribute, if they want, to this project. Other idea is to give them some silver jewelry, or silverware, or anything else related to silver. The contemporary party requires less preparation. Also, a barbeque in the backyard of your home is good enough. To add to the fun, organize a costumed party, or a theme party, so everyone can enjoy. The element of surprise is very important. Do not let your parents suspect that you are organizing a party. If you hold the party in a very elegant place, just tell them that you have reserved a table for them there, and they must come dressed accordingly. A good thing would be to refrain from comments on how long your parents have been married. This will just make them feel old, and you just want them to have fun, dont you?
