3 Homemade Votive Candle Holders That Are Simply Perfect
|
I have found some gorgeous retail votive candle holders. They come in all shapes, sizes, decor, and styles. You can get big ones; you can get small ones. However, I have found that I like making my own just as much - if not more - than purchasing my votive candle holders retail. I discovered this completely by accident. After we bought and moved into our own home, my family and I didn't have any lightening that first night. I knew where my candles where, but the votive candle holders were packed separately. This led to some interesting compromises and quick thinking. Using votive candle holders is important. Without a candle holder, your candle could be dangerous. By using a simply candle holder you are protecting your household including the family and your belongings. Keep in mind a candle holder is only going to keep the wax away from your belonging if you use a plate or plate like object. Sometimes, having a cup or holder will be more what you are looking for. The choice is yours. That is what is so beautiful about votive candle holders, you are in complete creative control. 1. Nothing makes a better candle holder than a good, old-fashioned mason jar. I like using those little jam jars myself, but if you really wanna spice up your life, go ahead and use any of those old jars you have laying around. However, I would suggest you use the wide-mouthed jars, and try to avoid the old mayonnaise jars. There are great plain or decorated. If you have kids, or just love t o play, consider pulling out the crafting g oods and getting busy. You can use glitter, cut outs, and just about anything t o decorate a jar. You can also decorate for specific holidays. Ever make a pumpkin, mason jar candle holder? How about a Christmas angel candle holder? Just think of the holiday, and get busy. This is the perfect project for families with children, of any age from 2 to 202. Everyone will get a great deal of pleasure creating candle holders from those old mason jars. Of course, you can use what you have laying around, or you can shop specifically for this project. Anyway you look at it, this is fun, easy, and extremely inexpensive. 2. You can of course choose to make your own candle holders from those plain, clear votive candle holders you can purchase for under a dollar at any retailer or dollar store. These of course are only the beginning. Now we must prepare to decorate! You can do so much with those plain votive holders that no one will ever recognize them as the ones you purchased that had so little value. Of course, this is also a lot more classy and elegant than using the plain ones. Of course, you can never go wrong when making these because even if yu think you messed up, everyone else will just think you are the next Picasso. One of my favorite crafty projects with these is making stain glassed votive candle holders. You can purchase kits for stain glassing at any crafting store, and it usually does not cost a lot of money. Then you just play to your hearts content. My son didn't like this type of project until he reached his teens. Usually, I find that younger children just like being able to play there own way. These make awesome gifts for any occasion. I find that I like making gift baskets with some of my homemade votive candle holders. Nothing is more personal, or more perfect for that special someone. Of course, I suggest you give them a few candles too boot. Just so they get the full effect. If you like making your own candles. Try making some stain glassed candles to go with them. However, you can also simply buy a dark candle that will coordinate with the stain glassed votive candle holders. 3. One of the more unique votive candle holders I have seen to date was an old coke bottle. My sister collects Coca-Cola decor. She found some homemade votive candle holders that were made from a set of 4 Coke bottles. I am sure just about any bottle would work though. Someone had made a zigzagged cut around the bottle right below the neck. I am pretty sure they used a simple glass cutter. These are simple adorable and radiate the flickering flame simply beautifully. This could take a bit of trial and error, but believe me when I say the results are well worth your effort. You can literally use any type of bottle for your votive candle holders because they are thick and resist the flame extremely well. Never use plastic bottles for this purpose. Plastic will melt and cause some injury. Besides, plastic stick really bad when it gets melted, and the smell lasts for a long time. About The Author: Joanne is an author of Decorz.com.
