3 Materials That Make Perfect Canopies for Decks

Having a canopy is a great way to add protection, style, and elegance to any home. Many people enjoy having canopies for decks outside there home to protect their evening BBQ from rain and snow, or some people may enjoy their canopies just to sit and enjoy the weather. While no single person can tell you exactly what you will or will not like for your canopy, you will find that some material is basically the same through out all the options. Finding the right option for you and your lifestyle will make the experience a lot smoother.

To start, you will want to have a general idea of how you will find canopies for decks in your local area. Shopping the internet may be an option as well, if you can find a site that has free or low shipping and handling fees. You will get a lot of colors, shapes, and sizes to choose from, and you may be able to purchase a customized canopy for your deck needs.

1. Canvas Canvas is often used on canopies for decks because it offers many benefits, but it does have a few cons that should be mentioned as well. Canvas is great because it does what all canopies are designed to do protect what is underneath from what is on top. However, canvas is not as easily cleaned as lets say nylon or plastic. In addition, weight may cause the canvas to leak or collapse under pressure. Canvas is easily customizable though, and looks more attractive than other options we have today.

2. Tarp A tarp type material will work great for canopies, but when considering canopies for decks, people usually want something that is more decorative and permanent. These types of canopies can be noisy when it gets windy, and they tend to deteriorate quickly. The edges will usually be the first thing that shows signs of wear and tear. In addition, tarps are not repairable if it gets a small tear. These tend to be the less expensive of the options for canopies, and works fine for many uses, but for the deck, I would suggest something more permanent.

3. Metal Metal is probably the best option when considering canopies for decks. This is a permanent option that takes less upkeep than the other options. Plus, you will find that they are going to last a long time.
