5 Easy Steps In Opening A Webshop

Many people say that the best business today involves the Internet. Ever wondered why there are so many websites and online stores? This is because modern people have discovered that the Internet is one of the easiest ways to earn income, if not the easiest way to get rich.

A lot of people are dreaming of owning their own business but don't have the budget to rent a commercial space. If you are one of those people, well, you might want to start your own website. Before you start shopping for ecommerce software, there are several things you need to prepare when you open webshop:

1. Choose a hosting and domain registration company.
There are actually a lot of hosting companies today, make sure that you choose one which supports PHP and MySQL Database.

If you have a domain name in mind, it is best to register it now before someone else does. This is important as new websites are opened daily and there's a chance that someone else will reserve the name you want. When choosing the domain name, make sure that it is easy to remember. Some Internet marketers say that using dashes in the domain name is a bad idea as it can cause confusion.

2. You can now choose the ecommerce software you want to install on your website. Again, there is a lot of software online so it is best to read customer reviews. You might also want to check out the online stores using the ecommerce software in mind so you have an idea on the functionalities available for the customer. You might also want to check out the other features for the administrator. Some sites have payroll management, inventory and even Internet marketing features.

You might want to get ecommerce software with a free web design contract if you don't know much about programming.

3. In order for your store to accept credit card payments, you will need to have a merchant account. Most banks charge 1.5% to 3% per transaction and money usually appears on your account after 24 hours, depending on the bank. In order to collect payments online, you will also need an online payment gateway.

4. Now comes the easy part - product and data entry. By now, you would have decided which products you'd like to sell online and have collected information about them. You can already export this database of products to your ecommerce software. You might want to provide images for your customers to preview the product you are selling. Aside from this, you will also need to input how many stocks you have available so that your ecommerce software can keep track of it.

5. Now, all you need to do is customize the look and feel of your site. Keep in mind that your customers would want to be able to find the product they want without trouble so you can either categorize or you can include a search bar. You might also want to add a price comparison function to make it easier for your customers to choose the product to buy.

Although easy to setup, a webshop needs a lot of time and effort to maintain. This is why it is important that you choose a hosting company and ecommerce software that has full support on the products and services that they offer.
