5 Types of Universal Canopy Fittings

A canopy is a great addition for a home or business. In fact, many people make a living selling goods or merchandise from a sturdy canopy tent. Depending on your needs, you may find that on occasion those canopy fittings have worn out and may need replaced. Usually, you will want to replace those fittings if they do not quite fit the poles like they used to. No one is to blame in most cases fittings just wear out over time.

Getting a replacement is not difficult. Usually, you will find specialty stores or even hardware stores will carry a large selection of these for you to choose from. Before I explain a few types of these canopy fittings, I would like to suggest that you actually take the old fitting with you to the retailer so you can get an exact copy.

The first thing you will need to know is the slope of your roof. There are usually just about an endless amount of possibilities for angles, but the most common is a 110 degree angle and a 120 degree angle. Then, you will want to know the size of the pole. Poles range in size from about half an inch to almost two inches. You will want your canopy fittings to fit the pole as snuggly as possible.

1. Foot pad canopy fittings are the base of your poles. These are usually placed perpendicular on a round metal plate. The metal plate will vary in size according to the size of the pole supported. Usually, these will also have holes in them to help you secure the poles to the ground.

2. The peak center canopy fittings are usually at the very top of your canopy tent. There will be a center pole and then another pole that is in the center crossing both ways and angled as is appropriate.

3. The peakend canopy fittings are what you will find at the top of your canopy frame. This is where the center poles meet the end frame poles.

4. The peak side canopy fittings are what join the top to the bottom. There are places to fit 4 poles. One pole from the top, one pole from the bottom, and then two poles from the rim of your canopy tent.

5. The peak corner canopy fittings are what will join the top to the bottom at the corner. These are usually thicker than the other fittings because this is one of the canopy fittings that will stabilize your canopy tent.
