Vitamin C Fruit ProjectOne great idea for a science project for a 5th grader is to do a special vitamin C fruit project. Basically the project is based around figuring out which citrus fruit actually contains the most vitamin C in it. You can come up with a solution that is made of starch and iodine that will help you figure out how much vitamin C is in a certain fruit. Then use the solution to test various fruits and you'll be able to figure out which one really does have the most vitamin C in it. Ice Shapes ProjectAnother great idea when it comes to 5th grade science fair projects is doing an ice shapes project. Basically you'll want to figure out which shape of ice melts the fastest or if the shape of the ice actually does affect how fast it melts. You can place the same amount of ice in a variety of containers that have various shapes an then you freeze them. Record how long it takes each one of them to melt. Crunchy Cereal ProjectYou'll find that the crunchy cereal project is a great one as well. All you do is weigh out the same amount of various brands of cereal and then you will soak them in water. Weigh the cereal again so you can see which cereal weight more, which will tell you the one that absorbed the most water. Biodegradable Toilet PaperLast of all, if you need good 5th grade science fair projects, you may want to try the biodegradable toilet paper project. This project tries to find out which type of toilet paper will fall apart the fastest. All you do is take some samples of various kinds of toilet paper and then you soak them with water until they begin to come apart.
