5th Grade Science Projects - Great Ideas to Try



Do you happen to have a child in the fifth grade that just came home and told you that they need to come up with a good science project? Well, this can be a lot of fun for you and your child, so don't start to dread it. There are actually many great 5th grade science projects out there that your child an easily do that should help them to get a great science grade. You'll find that they can do a bit more than younger children, but they are probably going to need a bit of assistance from you still. Make sure that the projects you pick are not going to take to long, since you want to keep them interested. So parents, here are a few great choices when it comes to great 5th grade science projects.

Colored Light and PlantsOne great idea to consider when you are looking for 5th grade science projects is taking colored light and using it on plants. Basically you'll want to see if using various colors of light makes a difference in how plants grow. You can start out with potted plants or you can try to grow your plants from seeds to see what they do. Make sure that you have separate boxes for the plants so that you can keep the separate light color contained. Keep track of the results for about a week and see which plants do the best.

Pollution ProjectAnother great idea that you may want to try is a pollution project, which is an excellent idea when it comes to 5th grade science projects. Pollution is a serious topic that your children definitely need to be learning about today. You can take some plants and keep some in a variety clean environment, and then take other plants and put them in a trashy environment where you spray in chemicals. See which plants end up growing the best - the polluted ones or the ones that are in the cleaner environment.

How Much is an OunceLast of all, if you're looking for good 5th grade science projects, you may want to consider the how much is an ounce project. This project can be a lot of fun. All you have to do is take different objects, such as cereals, rice, stones, or other small items and weight out an ounce of each one. It will be fun to see that just a couple stones may weigh an ounce while it takes a whole bag of cereal to make the ounce mark. This will be a fun, quick, and interesting project for your 5th grader to try out.
