6 Points To Consider When Buying A Deck Umbrella
|
1. TiltThere are three different type of tilt available. They are the push button, crank tilt, and collar tilt. The collar tilt is the easiest to use and the most popular choice by far. 2. StandThere are many different stand types available to choose from. You'll need to pick a style that will work with the type of umbrella you have. A stand alone umbrella will use a much heavier base to ensure it doesn't topple and stays put. The traditional stand is still very commonly used - it works well and it's very affordable so don't discount it. 3. SizeThe size of umbrella you buy will depend on how big your deck is and how much space you have for the umbrella. Your umbrella should extend approx. 4 feet past your chairs and/or table. You can choose the traditional umbrella that sits in the middle of your table or you can you choose a stand alone style that sits wherever you want it to. 4. MaterialWith so many material types to choose from you might find it difficult to choose but the most important thing to remember is that the material you choose should protect from UV rays during sunny weather and rain during rainy periods. PVC usually blocks 100% UV and it also works to block the rain. Canvas is durable and blocks the UV rays nicely. It can block the rain if you spay it with a waterproofing spray. Basic cloth blocks up to 95% of the UV rays and can block a light shower but nothing heavier. 5. PositionThe proper position for your umbrella will be where the sun seems to concentrate for the longest period of time. By blocking the suns rays at this point you protect yourself or your guests from the harmful sun rays and you help keep the temperature on the deck down. Many umbrellas find themselves in the center of the table and that's okay if that's where you need it but too often these umbrellas are hardly used. So instead do your homework and make certain your umbrellas is located where it will benefit you the most. 6. FrameUmbrellas are made with either a wood or a metal frame with metal frame both being very popular. Which you choose will depend on your dcor and your own personal tastes. A metal frame does have the benefit of allowing you to angel the umbrella in any direction with a crank system. A wood frame looks rich and classic and uses a pulley system. It is usually made from wood. Your outdoor space is very important to your overall home. It is a great place to entertain guests and just relax. Homes have gotten smaller and open space is as a premium and by using your deck or patio you can provide more living space. Today's furniture choices are wonderful and you can even purchase gas or wood heaters that will keep you warm and cozy on those cooler days. Your furniture options are almost as extensive as those for inside the home so there is really nothing holding you back other than your own imagination. Why not start with a deck umbrella and see what develops from there? Before you know it you'll have this beautiful space that you can share with friends and family.
