Science Museums are a lot of fun and provide plenty of educational hours for both young and old. Your kids will have a great time at the science museum, and so will you! Here are 8 things to see at the science museums

1. Fighter Pilot - Operation Red Flag generally resides at Nellis Air Force Base which is located in Nevada but this year it is touring the Science Museums across the USA. Operation Red Flag is well known throughout the world as have the most realistic and difficult training exercises for combat. If you get the opportunity to participate in this fighter pilot simulation be sure you do. Be warned this is not for those that have a weak stomach.

2. The World Of The Butterfly - The butterfly is more than just a pretty face and what better place to observe it than in a Science Museum. The butterfly is actually one of the most significant animals on earth. They are a very complex creature that has been studied for years. If you have the opportunity to enjoy a butterfly exhibit be sure to take it in. Not only can you watch these beautiful creatures in flight you can learn about their anatomy, physiology, and the important role they have in the animal kingdom.

3. The Body - The human body is an intricate machine and many of the science museums spend a great deal of time presenting various exhibits to help us better understand its workings. From monster size models that allow us to walk through the arteries, to exhibits that show how doctors look inside the human body. So if you have an interest in human anatomy these exhibits are definitely worth taking in.

4. Planetarium Show - Does the solar system fascinate you? Are you constantly looking to the stars? Perhaps you even have a telescope you like to use to watch the skies on those clear nights. Then the planetarium shows are a must see for you. You can see some of the most astounding supernovas that are impossible to see unless you have the very best equipment. You can watch the life of a star from the beginning to end while you visit the universe and get the most spectacular view possible. Take some time to learn about the solar system, the stars, and the planets. Find out about new space discoveries too!

5. The Bugs - The bugs are ready to present you with a wild and wacky exhibit on the life of the bug. Watch how these little creatures eat, sleep, live, and reproduce. You might get a whole new respect for those nasty little creatures. Learn what there role is in the big picture and why they are so vital to our world.

6. Aliens Have Landed - Almost every science museum has an Alien exhibition which is a fascinating place to explore and learn about the possibilities of alien life based on real science. Find out what the scientists have come to know and believe about other races, and you can even get up close and personal with an alien being. This is a fascinating and fun exhibit to spend some time visiting.

7. A Trip To The Moon - Are you ready to take a trip to the moon and discover what the astronauts saw and how they felt. These outstanding exhibits will give you a feel for the real thing. In fact, be warned, they might be just enough to get your kids hooked on becoming an astronaut. Explore the challenges of getting to the moon, and the extraordinary experience of walking on the moon with the astronauts. This is an excellent exhibit for young and old!

8. Society and Technology - Go hand in hand and many of the Science Museums recognize this so they are very quick to present graphic demonstrations of society over the last 100 years. Where we have come from and where we are going. Here you can learn about the challenges we face in the future and the challenges our ancestors faced in the past including health epidemics. A very intriguing and compelling exhibit that will give most adults food for thought.

Science museums are an excellent outing for the entire family providing education and fun all in one trip. They are an opportunity to learn and question our world today and our world of the past. They allow us to experience events and sights that we would not be able to otherwise experience.
