9 Different Types of Office Chairs

When it comes to office chairs, all chairs are not created equal. With all the focus on ergonomics in the office, we all know how important it is to choose the right chair for the type of work being done. Here are 8 different types of office chairs.

1. Lumbar support chairThe lumbar support built into the chair follows the natural curvature of the lower back. Because lumbar supports are not adjustable it is important to try before you buy, to ensure the support fits the user.

2. Back support chairThe back support chair comes with a full back that can be lowered or raised to fit the user. If more than one person will be using the chair this is a good chair choice allowing for different body sizes and shapes.

3. High back chair with headrestThis style of chair is optimal for anyone that is going to be sitting for 8 hours a day. The back is fully adjustable and can be lowered, raised, or tilted. The headrest adjusts vertically as well as front to back. As well, the seat pan is wide enough for any body size and the angle can be adjusted. With so many adjustments you can quite literally build this chair to fit the users' frame.

4. Fluid chairThis chair offers lower back support with a full tilt range making it easily adjustable to any users' size and weight. The breathable mesh back allows for air circulation keeping the user cooler. The even distribution of the body pressure allows this chair to form to the shape of the user, making it ultra comfortable. The high tech gel foam used in the armrests is both durable and comfortable.

5. Kneeling chairThis backless style chair is designed to take the pressure off the lower back. This unconventional style of chair offers an alternative way to sit. The kneeling chair gives the body a more natural posture than the conventional chair does. Often recommend by physical therapists and ergonomists.

6. Saddle chairThe saddle chair promotes good posture by angling the legs downward and angling the hips forward. This style of chair helps the back maintain its natural s curve, reducing tension in the spine and the muscles. The design of the saddle chair requires the legs to play an active role in sitting by increasing the angle between the upper body and lower legs

7. The air chairNow this is as luxurious as a chair can get. It has adjustable air bags surrounding the seat and the lumbar are so the chair can be molded to fit the posture of the person using it. The 12 volt pump allows the user to quickly increase or decrease the amount of air in the support areas. It also comes with adjustable headrest that can be adjusted for height and angle. Adjustable armrests can be tilted and raised or lowered to maximize elbow and arm support. The rocker style back is fully adjustable. This is definitely one of the best ergonomic chairs on the market.

8. The Ab ChairThe ab chair is relatively new to workplace ergonomics. A very versatile design allowing the backrest to be swing to the front as a frontrest. The front support makes this chair ideal for tasks that require you to learn forward. Adjustable seat height, seat slider, and seat tilt, as well as height adjustment.

9. The Executive ChairAn executive chair is exactly what the name says. This style of chair is not designed for performing computer task, but rather designed as a comfortable ergonomic chair for the occasional desk task.
