A Guide to the HobbyCrafts 2008 at the SECC

In today's fast moving world where hobbies are closely related to technology, the so called 'traditional' hobbies have almost become extinct. However, admiration for art and crafts still continues to grow with the new generation keen on not only learning but also sharing their expertise to keep alive skills passed on through the generations.

Encouraging this creative development, the ICHF (International Craft and Hobby Fair) has organized the HobbyCrafts 2008 exhibition at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre at Glasgow from the 23rd to 26th October 2008.

The SECC is easily accessible at a distance of 15 minutes from the Glasgow International Airport. The venue can be accessed by road through the M8 which runs alongside SECC and there are many taxi and bus services all over the city available at reasonable fares. Since the SECC is centrally located and also has its own train station, it can be reached in approximately ten minutes from Central Train Station. Also, accommodation at Glasgow is never a matter of concern thanks to the innumerable number of hotels, bed and breakfasts and inns offering accommodation to suit all budgets.

Visitors flock to the HobbyCrafts Exhibition in order to take advantage of the abundance of creative craft materials and services showcased at the show by aspiring and established artisans, Craft companies and entrepreneurs also make use of the expo to launch a number of individual products at this show. While craft materials like cutters, score boards, die cuts, decoupage, dolls kits, embellishments, glitters and ink pads will be available widely, HobbyCrafts will also showcase a number of quality suppliers of materials for many assorted crafts like jewellery making, pixel art, pottery, rug making, family history scrap booking, soap making and sugar crafts among others.

The HobbyCrafts exhibition promises to give visitors a memorable experience both with the items and crafts its showcases as well as with its workshops and seminars. The show also has a Hands-on Area designed to encourage visitors to try their hands at a new craft or technique. Apart from card-making, stamping and paper craft demos, visitors will also be able to watch lively demonstrations on different crafts, techniques and products by exhibitors throughout the show.

While there will be a display of popular British crafts, the latest craft trends from Europe and USA will also be available for viewing. A must see event at the show is the live demonstration of new crafts by members of Craft Associations and Guilds who will also share their skills while giving tips to interested visitors.

Another one of the show's attractions is Stand K11 where Julie and Christine Ashford will be present on all four days of the show signing copies of their book 'Spellbinding Bead Jewellery'. Giving full value for money, the HobbyCrafts ticket can also be used to enjoy another one of its sister shows at the same venue.
