A Spiritual Illusion About God

The illusion that God cares one way or the other about what we do is one of the main reasons that the world has accepted the belief that we are all separate from each other so fully. If God cares about what we do then it would obviously follow that he cares for a reason. If we subscribe to the concept of separation we can understand that reasoning.

The belief that we are all separate says that we are separate from God and therefore dependent on him to provide for us and to allow us the opportunity to gain entrance into heaven upon our death. In order for this to happen we have to pass God's judgment about whether or not we followed the rules and commandments set forth by him as part of his agreement to allow us to occupy this planet.

To do this God would have to have a vested interest concerning what you do here during your lifetime. God would need to have an accounting of your life in order to check it against his rules and commandments to see how you stack up. This way he can make a judgment about whether to allow you into heaven or condemn you to hell.

So this God of separation definitely cares about what you do in your lifetime. In fact, it is critical in the paradigm of separation that you monitor and judge yourself about the doings and events of your life. If you do good things you will feel better about your chances in the final judgment. If you do bad things, you know that this won't look good to the big judge in the sky come judgment day.

Because you would prefer to go to heaven, it seems appropriate to feel guilty about any bad deed that you perceive yourself to have done. You believe that this feeling of guilt will somehow reach the big accounting system and it will register that you did do the “bad" thing, but you feel guilty about it.

So even though it happened, you understand that it was “bad." By acknowledging your guilt you think God should give you a little slack when it comes time to assign points in his big accounting book about your life.

If you subscribe to the theory of separation you would have to believe that God not only cares about what you do in your life, but also has a vested interest in these events in order to make an accurate evaluation of you at the time of your death. It all makes sense when you believe that you are separate from God.

Under the paradigm of oneness and unity, we know that God created us in the image and likeness of God and therefore gave us the same creative powers that she possesses. God also created the heavens and the earth in order to have a physical world of relativity where the spirit children she created could experience all that she knows in an absolute and conceptual form.

You and I are these spirit children. God created us to fulfill his grand plan, to experience all facets of ourselves in order for God to know experientially all that she knows conceptually. God has set the stage and wants us to go play. Given that we have the essence of God within us, it is now up to us to decide what the point of our lives will be.

This is one of God's greatest gifts. You, as a spirit child, have the ultimate choice as to how you are going to play the game. God has no preference in the matter.

Remember when your parents sent you outside to play. They didn't care what you played. You could play cowboys and Indians, or hide and seek, or whatever you decided. Your parents didn't care what game you chose. Of course, they didn't send you out to play in the freeway. They gave you a fairly safe environment to play in and hoped that you would stay within those confines.

They allowed you to choose, that is, they gave you free will to decide what you desired. Then they could observe you, but it would not be necessary for them to monitor you to such a point that you could only play in a particular way.

If you hurt yourself you could always go to your parents so that they could help you heal your hurt. They would warn you about what games and things you might do that could be dangerous but they understood that they would not always be available to keep you out of danger. It was your choice if you choose something that was dangerous to do. Your parents wanted you to choose safely so that you can go out the next day and play again. Once again, they wouldn't care what you play, only that you were safe.

It is the same with God. God sends us out on the stage of the physical world and then allows us to live the life that we choose through free will. Like your parents, God is always there to assist you, but we have to understand that she is not there to interfere or undo or change any of the experiences or circumstances of your life. You are allowed to live your life in the manner in which you choose. This is a great gift. This gift tells you that what you will for yourself is what God wills for you.

Could it be any other way? If you believe in the concept that all of life is interconnected then you know you are one with God. God has given us free will because God has free will. God has given us the ability to create because God has the ability to create. So we create our lives and we live according to the choices we make when we play the game of life.

God has no preference about what we choose. Why would she? For what purpose? He is not here to judge you because what would he judge? Himself? If he judged himself would he condemn himself to hell if he did something bad, or broke the rules and his own commandments?

No, God is the observer. God created us and we created the rest. God does not judge us for our creations. We do that well enough on our own, because we have bought into the idea that says we are separate from God. As long as we continue to believe in this theory of the universe, we will continue to worry about the second great illusion of man, which says the outcome of our lives is in doubt.
