A Very Short Guide To Backpacking Australia

When should you go?

A lot of people have many different opinons on when you should travel to Australia. But because of Australias huge size, it's impossible to say then and then is the best time to go. When it's good weather in the north, it's bad in the south and so on.The usual answer is still Januar to April. These are the summer months of Australia, and therefor primarily have good weather and good temperature. The middle and the southern parts of Australia are the places to be during summer. Because of the wet season, the Northern part is just way too hot and the humid is unbearable. A good place to start is Sydney! For more information on Sydney read: Five Things You Must Do In Sydney

How many dollars do I need in my daily budget?

Australia isn't Asia good when it comes to prices, but it's still a decent place compared to backpacking standards. Hostels tend to cost from $18-$25 in the big cities and $15-$20 in smaller towns. You can keep your food budget low if you stick to buying groceries from super market and cook yourself for $15-$20 a day. Going out for dinner will cost you around $8-$15 on a cheap restaurant. For transport, activities and basically just enjoying yourself, you should also set off $20 a day. There is lots of free activites and sights, but the booze will still rob you.If we add this entire up, we end on about $60 per day. You should add from $15 to $20 to your daily budget for the big cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Cairns and Perth are also quite big cities, but they tend to be cheaper then the others..

Where to Travel?

Never underestimate the size of Australia! It's a huge place with lots of things to doLooking on a map and trying to figure out where to go, will probably just make you dizzy. That's why it's so important to narrow down to places you really want to visit before you create a route. The first you should do is to find Australian places or attractions that you really want to visit.Let me start you off: Great Barrier Reef, Ayers' rock, Sydney Harbor.Catch my drift?
