About Bandana Fabrics

Bandana's have been around as long as one can remember. They come in many colors such as red, navy, black, pink, green, blues, white and others. You can even find bandana fabric by the yard at your local fabric stores. Many items have been made with these bandanas over the years. Some include collars, hats, purses, costumes, masks, hair dobbers, and more.

A new product is out using bandana fabrics and it is called coolbandana. It is a personal cooling accessory for use when you are at work , at play, or any other time when the heat is getting to you and slowing you down. It may look like any other bandana, but there is more to it. Each CoolBandana is 40" long and 2" wide. It is one size fits all product and can be worn by draping it over part of the body such as the shoulders or by tying the tails together to the desired length to wear as a head bandana. This feature makes it perfect for kids or adults. Inside each bandana are some very special pellets . It may seem like these granular, little pellets are just a handful of rocks. But just wait until they are activated. You immerse your bandana in clean water and let it sit for 30 minutes. Keep an eye on the soaking and you will see the contents turn into something much greater. When you take it out, the pellets will have filled with water and expanded to ten or more times their original volume.

The bandana's central compartment will be completely filled with this new gel-like substance. Now the bandana is ready to cool you down! Drape the CoolBandana around your neck or tie it around your head. You will instantly feel a cool, relaxing, refreshing sensation as the bandana works. By wearing one around your neck , your entire body will feel relieved. Since the spine and several major arteries runs through the neck, cooking that part of your body can help to cool the rest of it. It works best when it is directly against the skin. Re-soak the bandana fabric every couple of hours and it will allow a recharge with cooling power. A single soaking will allow the bandana to cool you for up to two or three days. This makes it ideal for hiking or biking or camping when cool water may not be available. These items are easy to clean too, just hand wash your dirty bandana with mild detergent and it will be good as new.

So whatever you need bandana fabric for, you have so many choices. Have you ever used them for masks for a child's party? Have you tied your hair up in them to coordinate with an outfit you are wearing? Do you keep one on hand in case of a cold or use one for an oil rag? Remember in the 50's , the mechanic with a bandana hanging out of his pocket? The assortment is great in bandana fabrics!
