Absolutely Free Credit Report

If you have wanted to get your credit report to look at, you may be tired of all the places that promise an absolutely free credit report but end up delivering less than what you want. Though they stay on just this side of legal, many places offer free credit reports and suggest that you will get everything that you need when they deliver you one, but you find out that in order to get all of the information on your credit report you need to pay. This can be frustrating, but there actually are ways to get an absolutely free credit report that has all of the information on it that you need.

The first thing that you need to know when you are looking for an absolutely free credit report is that all of the major credit reporting agencies have to give you one free complete credit report once a year. You do have to pay for any other credit reports that you order from them within the same year, but the first one each year will be free. These credit reports will have all of the information on them that you need, including your credit scores. It is a very good idea to take advantage of the absolutely free credit report each agency will give you each year, because all of them tend to report just a little differently.

If you find a company that is advertising that it will give you an absolutely free credit report, what they are not telling you is that they will give you one free limited credit report from only one of the credit reporting agencies. They will hold something back so that you will pay to see more, and usually that something is your credit score. Often it will be details on different reported discrepancies in payments; information that you need to know if you are going to correct the problem.

You can't get an absolutely free credit report more than once a year; especially if you want complete ones. One thing that you need to remember is that some of the companies that offer free credit reports for a trial membership to their credit reporting programs aren't all that bad. Many of them, for a monthly fee, will furnish you with credit reports from all of the credit agencies whenever you want to see them. They also can have extra added programs such as a watchdog program that alerts you whenever someone inquires into your credit. This can be very helpful for guarding against identity theft.
