If you're thinking of starting an all-over workout routine, there are two that you should definitely consider: aerobics and tai bo.
Aerobics has been popular for a number of years and for very good reasons. It is associated with fantastic benefits and compared to a lot of workout routines, it can be a lot of fun to do. This is especially important if you do not particularly care for exercise and find it difficult to get involved in a routine. Aerobics can be performed either at home or in a gym or studio. Ideally, at least when you are first starting out, it's a good idea to sign up for a class with a certified aerobics instructor to ensure that you learn the appropriate movements. Most gyms offer a wide variety of aerobics classes ranging from beginner classes to more advanced sessions. Many, if not most, aerobics classes are performed to energized music; making the steps more fun and easier to perform.
Later, after you have mastered the movements, you may wish to take advantage of the flexibility of being able to do aerobics at home. One of the best advantages of this type of workout routine is that it is good for individuals who are unable to fit a gym workout into their busy routines. There are a wide variety of aerobics workout videos that give you the opportunity to work out at home according to your own desires and schedule.
This type of workout routine is known to be particularly good for individuals who are interested in a cardiovascular workout routine. In this regard, it can help you lose weight, improve your overall health and build endurance and strength. Aerobics might not be right for everyone; however, so it's important to make sure you fully understand what is involved in aerobics before getting started. For example, if you have problems with your knees, this type of workout might not be the best choice for you because it does tend to put pressure on the knees.
There are actually many different forms of aerobics and one of the most popular that has gained a lot of attention and popularity in the last few years is known as tae bo or tai bo. This is a form of very high impact aerobics that actually combines some forms of martial arts along with certain kinds of dance with traditional aerobics movements. Tae Kwan Do, along with hip-hop dancing, ballet, karate and boxing are all combined to create this rather unique form of aerobics. Tae Bo has actually been around since the late 1980s when it was created by a seven time world karate champion named Billy Blanks.
Today, you can take advantage of the benefits provided by Tai Bo by either enrolling in a Tae Bo class or learning the movements from Tae Bo tapes; one of the most popular methods. Like traditional aerobics, Tae Bo provides a very good cardiovascular workout. Many people find that the variety of movement in this workout routine provides the necessary variety to keep people engaged and interested in the workout routine; a necessity in order to keep from becoming disinterested and dropping it all together. Another great benefit of Tae Bo is that is provides the ability to burn off a tremendous amount of calories; more than many other types of workout routines. With a traditional workout routine lasting an hour, you can usually only burn about 400 calories but with Tae Bo performed for the same amount of time you can burn twice as many calories.
