Allergy Cough

An allergy cough can become quite annoying as it continues to carry on throughout the day and the night. Many people suffer from allergies and have an array of symptoms because of it. There are various triggers that can result in seasonal allergies flaring up around the same time each year. An allergy cough can be embarrassing because other people have to hear it constantly at home and at work. It can also be annoying to you because it interrupts your sleep at night.

There are several different things you can do though to help you get past the allergy cough. There are over the counter products designed specifically for allergy problems. They are different from those that you take for a cough that is due to a virus so make sure you carefully read labels before making a purchase. Many of them can taste horrible though as well as make a person drowsy.

If your allergy cough is severe, it can make your chest heavy due to the excess fluid that accumulates there. If that is the case, you will want to talk to your doctor. They can offer you a prescription allergy medication that can help eliminate allergy cough. You need to realize though that such medications are often associated with some common side effects. They include drowsiness, nausea, headache, and excessive thirst.

If you are able to remove yourself from the allergy trigger than do so. Yet it may not always be possible. For example it may be an allergic reaction to the trees outside of your home. When you have an allergy cough there are particles irritating the throat, lungs, and respiratory tract. Do your best to help soothe them by sucking on hard candy or cough drops. They will keep your throat moist and that can help a great deal.

A humidifier can help you to get relief from an allergy cough, especially at night. If possible run one all day as well. You may be able to get the permission of your employer to do so at the office in order to help you focus on your work. Make sure you stay well hydrated as well. Drinking plenty of water will help to flush toxins from your body including some known to cause allergy cough.

Green tea and tea with honey can also help you to get relief from allergy cough. Taking a hot shower or warm bath before bed can help to loosen up your irritants as well. It is important for you to do all you can to get a good night of sleep to battle your allergies. Even if you can't sleep well, getting plenty of rest will help you to recover faster.
