Armpit Sweat - Dealing with the Problem

When you are suffering from too much armpit sweat, it can cause you a great deal of embarrassment. For most people, underarm perspiration and odor is not a problem. Normal antiperspirant/deodorants work just fine, and for some people even those aren't necessary. For a certain percentage of people, however, excessive underarm perspiration and odor is a big problem, and they need more treatment than just simple antiperspirant/deodorants. For these people, the problem can cause a lot of stress in social situations because they worry about it, which in turn causes more perspiration. They need solutions to their armpit sweat problems that work.

One of the things that people with excessive armpit sweat need to do is find why they have the particular problem. It isn't always caused by the same thing. Being overly stressed too often is a common cause of too much underarm sweat. The obvious remedy for this is to reduce the stress in your life, though this can be easier said than done. Often it helps to visit a therapist or a certified hypnotist who can help you with relaxation exercises. If the stress and subsequent excessive armpit sweat is caused by a sudden and most likely temporary problem, medication may even be prescribed to help you relax.

For many people, the problem is a medical condition that can start in childhood or develop later in life, and it is called hyperhidrosis. This is simply the name for sweating that is way beyond normal, and it isn't necessarily confined to the armpits. Hyperhidrosis can affect all of the places where people normally sweat more, as well as places where they don't often sweat, such as the palms of the hands. Many people with hyperhidrosis don't see any relief with normal over-the-counter antiperspirants, so they often consult a doctor for stronger treatments. Doctors will assess the amount of armpit sweat as well as the other places the person sweats, and treat accordingly.

If you are one who suffers from excessive armpit sweat that isn't helped by normal antiperspirants, you have two major choices. You can visit your doctor and more than likely be prescribed a medication, or you can try to treat it naturally. If you prefer to go the natural route, you can do your own research or you can visit a naturopathic physician for advice. How you treat your excessive sweating is a personal decision that you should make after you have done some research and talked to some professionals.
