While you can get by without insulation in an attic, you want to have it in place if at all possible. That way you will be able to have attic storage all year long without any problems. You will find your other areas of the home stay warmer or cooler depending on the time of year if you have the attic properly insulated as well. Look for solutions to keep humidity from building up too if it is a common problem where you live.


Another aspect of attic storage you need to evaluate is how sturdy it is. Will it reasonably be able to hold the weight of what you put in? If not you may need to enhance it with floor joists.
