B Complex Vitamin - Health for Mind and Body
|
You can get each B complex vitamin in such foods as dark green leafy vegetables, whole grains and bananas. These are foods that you should include in your diet as much as possible anyway. As nice as it would be for most of us to eat a healthy balanced diet every day, however, we don't often adhere to it. For this reason, it's fine to take a B complex vitamin supplement every day. You want to make sure that you get the entire spectrum of B vitamins, though, since each B vitamin serves a unique purpose. A lot of people get concerned when they take a B complex vitamin tablet and then find a little later that their urine is a bright green. This isn't cause for concern; it is simply the body expelling the B vitamins that it's not using. And it doesn't mean that you have taken too much. Though you don't want to take more than is recommended, the body is good at ridding itself of excess B vitamins, so you needn't worry. During particularly stressful times or after illness, you may find after taking your B vitamins that your urine isn't discolored at all. This is simply a sign that your body was low on these vitamins and used every bit that you fed it. Every B complex vitamin helps your nervous system, although B12 is probably best known for it. Not only does this one B vitamin help with stress, it also seems to help with alertness and energy. You should still only take it with all of the other B vitamins, though, since they all work together better than each one works by itself. If you haven't been eating foods that are high in B vitamins and you start eating more of them or taking a B vitamin tablet every day, you should notice after a while that you are feeling a lot better overall.
