Bathroom Linen Cabinets: Simplistic Yet Functional
|
Bathroom linen cabinets do not have to be expensive. Quite the contraire, since a linen cabinet has the simple task of holding your linens such as towels and sheets, anything can be a linen cabinet. However, I do like a few neat extras on my linen cabinets. Since not all bathroom linen cabinets are created equal, I wanted to compare a couple of different models to give you an example of styles and doodads that can be on these cabinets. My cabinet stands about 65 inches tall and I have it placed right in front of the toilet. I love my bathroom linen cabinet! It is a rustic wood finish and isn't too old. There are two doors that swing out that have decorated, beveled frames and two beautiful brass knobs. The doors open to show the perfect storage area for towels or sheets. Then an open shelf that is about 12 inches high is great for some of those necessities that should be kept handy; this is located directly above the doors. I thoroughly enjoy the top part of this bathroom linen cabinet. There are foggy, double glass doors that have two shelves inside. This is great for personal items since the glass is foggy and private proof. Finally, there is a shelf on top that is perfect for stashing that special something. I have my "bathtub basket" on top which holds all my needs for a soothing bubble bath. This is perfect for my bathroom and when I bought it, I paid under $100 USD at a retail chain sale. Well, my mom has an interesting, purely functional bathroom linen closet. This is about 65 inches tall and made of metal. I like it because when you open the doors, you have an enormous amount of linen space. I think there were 10 shelves and shelving units on the doors; all of this is adjustable. There are two sets of doors one on top of the other. In addition, this fits perfectly in a spare corner of the bathroom. No, it wasn't decorative, but it was enormously useful for all that space. Since it is metal, my mom actually got crafty one weekend and painted via stencils and such some beautiful designs on the bathroom linen cabinet. I was amazed when she sent me pictures. Not that it was an extraordinary cabinet, but that my mom could do this was amazing to me. She swears that this bathroom linen cabinet was once in the home of our ancestors since like the 1700s; I remember as a child my brothers and I referred to it as "the beast". As you can see, bathroom linen cabinets can be new or old; metal or wood; big or small. They all serve the same function and hold our linens while sometimes, if we are lucky, they may add to the dcor of our home.
