Handcrafting your lanyard If you are more into do it yourself, here are some tips on how to make your own beaded necklace. What you will need are some lanyard material, like gimp, or craft lace, and some beads. The next step is to get down to work. Take two strands of lanyard material and fold them, knotting them together. Put a bead at the base, then split the strings in four, facing each of them towards a cardinal point. With a finger, keep the west string, and pull this one over the north string. The north comes over the east, then the east over the south, and the south over the west string. You can now make the first knot using the four strings, and continue with repetitions until you acquire the necessary length. The last knot must be sealed with another bead, as you did in the beginning. You have now made a rounded lanyard.
