Beatles Classic in Latest Bud Beer Spot
|
Alright, I confess. I liked it. Initially I believed I was going to put a ban on Bud Beer over their use of All Together Now in a bud T.V. advertisment. But, after viewing the Bud spot, I actually like the new song and ad's visuals. Perhaps it is a nice thing to keep the Beatles tunes before the next generation so it'll go on into history. Or, does it devalue the Beatles catalog to use what Sir Paul says was created as a child's song to promote beer? The Budweiser people had the TV spot filmed over five days from a regularly scheduled Chicago commutor train. The beggining shot of the Chicago skyline looks exactly like the first shot of Liverpool in the Yellow Submarine movie. The beer TV advertisement shows a a bee jumping on a trampoline, football players, cheerleaders, a bride and groom and other costumed people all around the city, on tops of roofs and streets spelling out the lyrics to the Beatles classic song. Budweiser doesn't have the rights to the actual recording of the Beatles version of All Together Now, so they enrolled a band called The Hours to re-record a highly similar recording. Their cover of All Together Now is similar all the way to the party sounds and ending toy cycle horn. I believe the tune wouldn't finish properly if it didn't have the tiny honking horn. The largest difference is the singer is a female, but with very Beatle sounding voices singing backup. I read somewhere the group recorded their song in a hotel room employing a fire extinguisher hitting a radiator as a percussion instrument. The song sounds very influenced by Lennon's Give Peace a Chance Bed-In recording session. I have my doubts if it actually was recorded in a hotel room. But supposedly there is footage of them recording it. So, I could be proved wrong. The ad took a crew of over a hundred folks and a further thirty five sets together with the Chicago's background and passenger train. The commercial started being broadcast in the UK on July fourth. I guess as payback for our declaring independence from England, we do not get to see the advertisment in the United States But you can see the complete Beatles Budweiser ad on my blog...
