Beautify Your Home With An Italian Chandelier

Your lighting is an integral part of your home dcor and it serves to functions to provide appropriate light and to compliment your dcor. So why not beautify your home with an Italian chandelier?

When we think chandelier too often we think formal dining area or foyer but actually a chandelier is a lighting option the works well in many rooms like the kitchen, family room, master bedroom, and even the children's bedroom.

Of course the trick is finding the right chandelier for the right room. Italian art glass offers such a terrific variety that you'll have so many choices it might be overwhelming. So here are so things to consider before you make your purchase.

1. Size

The size of the chandelier you choose is very important because if you choose the wrong size it may not fit properly and or it may appear overwhelming. You also need to consider the right size to ensure the right lighting.

There's a neat formula for determining the size of your chandelier. Start by measuring the size of your room then add these two numbers together to find out what the width of your chandelier should be. So let's say your room is 10x12 then you should add 10+12=22 which means your chandelier's ideal width is 22 inches.

You also need to determine what height is best suited for your room. If your ceilings are quite low you should look at chandeliers that are a little smaller around 24 to 28 inches tall. If you have nice high ceilings then consider going big! Look at chandeliers that are over 32 inches tall.

2. Lighting

Just as with all light fixtures there are many different types of lighting to choose from so you'll want to decide what type of light it is you want.

If you want ambient lighting you'll want to choose the largest chandelier that is appropriate for the room with the most available lights. If you are looking for accent lighting look for a chandelier that has down lights or spot lights that will have focus on the item or area you are looking to accent. Diffused lighting is popular because it is much softer and less harsh than traditional lights. If you prefer diffused lighting look for a chandelier that has lights that face up, or a chandelier that has shades which will help filter the light.

3. Style

They say style is everything when it comes to your fashion wardrobe and the same applies when it comes to the fashion of your home. You'll need to decide what style is best for your room. Are you looking to create a focus point or compliment the room? There are a variety of different Italian styles to choose from so take your time and pay special attention to what will fit your existing dcor.

You can choose from ornate shades, single colors that are deep and rich or pastel and soft, multi colored glass, large shades or small shades. You can choose Italian millefiori type glass, slag glass, or a host of art glass styles offered by the masters. Amethyst, ruby, cobalt, emerald, and canary yellow are all popular solid colors and of course there's every color under the rainbow that expands from the basics.

4. Cleaning And Care

You should consider the ease of cleaning and caring for the chandelier you are considering purchasing. Some styles are much more complex and labor intense to care for than others. Some house many bulbs which can be a pain to continuously be changing a bulb. If it's not a concern for you then don't worry about it, but for some time restrictions or physical restraints may want you considering the care element.

5. Price

How much is that doggy in the window? Or should we say how much is that chandelier on the website? Chandeliers can range from a couple hundred dollars to well over the $20,000 mark. Set your budget and then go shopping. Of course it's always fun to look at those that are out of your budget if you so desire, but don't be tempted because just around the corner is the perfect chandelier for your room for the price you want to pay.

Italian glass has been popular in home decorating for centuries. Beautiful vases, centerpieces, glasses, crystal so why not consider an Italian chandelier that has the same quality and characteristics of the other glass from the area.

Venetian chandeliers have been made for centuries. Murano is the area where much of the Italian glass originates. You can choose from old glass and look for an antique that's perfect for your room or you can have a look at all the modern and trendy glass that's available.

Italian glass is known for its quality, exceptional beauty, and affordability. The skill of the master glass blowers is evident in every piece of Italian glass and that includes Italian chandeliers.
