Biotin Hair - Feeding your Tresses

Have you ever complimented someone on how nice their hair looks and they tell you that they have biotin hair? You may give them a look of confusion, but once you realize why they said it you will understand. Biotin is a substance that, when ingested, can greatly improve the look and health of your hair. Part of the B vitamin group, biotin works to strengthen hair at the roots and open up the pores on the scalp. This makes it it easier for hair to grow and even helps overall hair growth on the head, making the entire head of hair look thicker. This is what many people call biotin hair.

Biotin is found in many different foods, from fruits and vegetables to some proteins. There are very few foods that contain high concentrations of this substance, though, so getting biotin hair from eating foods that contain it may not be so easy. For this reason most people like to take biotin supplements. It's important to note that taking any vitamin or mineral supplement all by itself will not work as well unless you take supporting substances. You will more easily get biotin hair if you take the supplements along with the foods that contain the highest concentrations of it.

Many people say that they get their biotin hair not only from taking supplements, but from using biotin shampoo and conditioner as well. Though there are arguments about whether or not using a shampoo and conditioner that contains biotin works, it certainly isn't going to hurt anything. It's hard to tell if the shampoo and conditioner are working if you are taking supplements, since it could just be the supplements that are doing the job. If you like the shampoo and conditioner overall, though, there's no reason why you shouldn't keep using them.

When you are on a quest to get biotin hair, you want to give it some time before you decide if it has worked or not. Taking biotin supplements for a month isn't long enough to really see any results, so don't get discouraged. You want to wait at least six months before you decide if you see a significant difference in your hair. Use the shampoo and conditioner at the same time if you want to, but remember that if you see a noticeable difference in your hair it is most likely due to the supplements. Be sure to eat an overall healthy diet while you are taking the supplements; when you are healthy all over, your hair will be healthier.
