If you want total blackness you can invest in a blackout drape but if you just want to darken up the room you can easily do that with a pair of black curtains and it will cost you a fraction of the cost.

Sunlight filtering in can really make it tough to sleep and its also a real pain if you are trying to watch a movie in the theater room when the suns rays are seeping in.

When you hang your drapes overlap the by at least 6 inches top, sides, and bottom unless they are floor length drapes then keep them 6 inches from the floor. This will not only block out the light it will create a level of privacy. No one will even catch a glimpse of the inside of a room from the outside.

Black curtains are also useful in an office to reduce glare on computer monitors and reduce eye strain. They are perfect for a young childs room too so that you can keep things darker during nap time. Oh yes and if you are worried about furniture fading you can use black drapes to reduce the damage.

Whether youre a pilot, firefighter, policeman, nurse, doctor, factory worker, or any other career that entails shift work you want to install a black curtain. If you have infants and young children darkening the room will provide for proper rest periods. And if you suffer from eyes train your blacked out office will eliminate the glare.

Youve got plenty of style choices including Venetians and true blackout curtains. You can use any type of rod for your black panels and why not finish off with a great set of finials? Whether you choose tab top curtains, pinch pleats or pole tops they are all going to look great.

When you want to block out the outside world and turn day into night close your black curtains. The world may not sleep on your schedule but youll never know it.
