Blue Hair Dye: Guidelines

When you want to dye your hair blue, you have to bleach your hair and only after that apply the blue color.

The first step is to choose what kind of blue your hair will be. If you go for a lighter shade, then you need to bleach your hair more. If you are already blonde, this step may not be needed, but the effect will not be for long, and your hair will get a greenish hue.

Bleaching the hair is a serious business and you can end up with burnt hair. It is best if you can address your concerns with a hairstylist that will know for how long to expose your hair to the bleaching process, without the risk of damaging your hair. It will cost you about $200, but it will be worth it.

After bleaching, you will have to wash and dry the hair. If you notice that your hair has become yellow, the first thing recommended is to tone the hair to white.

Many women prefer to use vaseline to protect the skin surrounding the hair line from the effect of dye. We recommend extra caution instead of this measure, as vaseline can get in the hair, and those strands will be anything but blue in the end. If your skin is very delicate, try conditioner that will not remain in your hair longer than needed.

Purchase a blue hair dye kit and apply the color according to the instructions on the package. After painting the hair beginning at half an inch from the root, go to the roots and help them to become blue, as well. Make sure that dye got into all your hair evenly.A shower cap will help you prevent the dye spreading everywhere.

For a darker tone, leave the dye to work on your hair as much as needed. Vegetable based dyes can be let on the hair even over the night. For chemical based dyes, three hours is the maximum recommended.

Blow dry the hair as the color will have more success into setting on your hair this way. The color will be more intense and you will have it for a longer period of time.

To make your hair healthy and shiny, rinse it with a combination of vinegar and water. The color will become more intense. If you have ever seen your mother wiping the Easter eggs with vinegar, to make the color stand out, then you will know why vinegar is good for your hair, too.

Rinsing with cold water is highly recommended. Use the shower on your hair, until nothing comes off.

Also the conditioner must be taken out of your hair, for longer effects of the dye.

If you want the color to last more, you will need to follow some simple instructions:- wash less often than usual;

- twice a week is enough for colored hair;- for a longer life of the color, use a color refreshing shampoo.
