Botanical Fabrics



Botanical fabrics are any fabrics that have plants or gardening on them. So many fabrics use the great outdoors as inspiration. Designers will tell you that is the greatest source of inspiration. They sit outside and draw their ideas as they sit in the gardens and admire nature. Flowers and greenery, trees and shrubs all provide such enriching texture from which to design. I see why botanical fabrics abound in our stores today.

Color is important in fabric and botanical fabrics give us many vivid colors to use in our sewing and designing. From flowers to leaves to shrubs to bark�.the colors are endless. Texture is also a very important design element in fabrics and botanical varieties cover that area as well. Texture in the leaves and bark, the stems and flowers are very crucial when quilting especially. Quilters love to use botanical prints in their quilts. Lots to choose from and variety is the spice of life in quilting. Color plays a big role in the quilters choice of botanical fabrics.

From muted tones to vibrant pizzazz, botanical fabrics catch your eye in a quilt for certain. Most quilters use the things they love in the quilts. You would be surprised how many quilters are also working and playing in their gardens. Designing quilts may just start right in the garden with ideas and inspiration galore. Working and studying plants gives the quilter a better idea of how to use those fabrics in quilts. Botanical fabrics come in large prints as well as small prints and the quilter needs both to give her quilt the look she is trying to achieve.Home d�cor has long been inspired by botanical fabrics. We bring the garden in our home at every turn. Asian fabric loves to include flowers and plants. Cherry blossoms are frequent designs in asian fabrics. Bamboo is also another fabric that is used quite frequently. Whimsical garden prints abound in kitchen accessories and bath items. Bedrooms can be turned into a peaceful tranquil garden with fabric. Window treatments are the most popular items in which to use botanical prints. Curtains can add so much to a home and with the beautiful fabrics available these days, one can be certain of finding just the right fabric to fit your d�cor.

Soft colors or bright vivid colors, whatever your preference, sew up a few pillows to toss around and the look changes. Adding botanical prints to your home d�cor is a good move. Beautiful fabrics make a beautiful home. You can change an entire bedroom . First make the bed cover. This will be the focus. Then you should find fabrics that coordinate or compliment the bed cover for your window treatment or bedroom curtains. You could make a skirt for a bedside table, flowing to the floor. Sew up a few pillows and there you have it, a beautiful botanical bedroom. Your sleep will never be the same again.
