Breath Assure - How Well does it Work?

Most people worry about bad breath and go to some lengths to makes sure that their breath is not offensive to other people. Breath Assure is a product that many people use to help ensure that their breath is fresh and clean smelling. It is a natural breath freshener that is taken in capsule form, and it is supposed to fight off bad breath for several hours. This sounds like a dream come true, especially for people who have to work with the public on a regular basis. Rather than having to chew gum or pop mints on a regular basis, you can simply take a Breath Assure every few hours.

The problem is that the claims made by the manufacturer of Breath Assure may be a little overstated. The main ingredients in the capsules are parsley oil and sunflower oil, which the makers claim work on bad breath from the inside out. Though the benefits of sunflower oil on breath odor is questionable, it is true that parsley is a known breath freshening agent. Chewing on parsley after a meal that contained such breath-unfriendly foods as garlic or onions used to be a common practice before mints came along. Parsley seemed to be good at eliminating the lingering odors of these strong foods. Conceivably, this means that Breath Assure should work well too.

The temporary bad breath that is caused by eating strong foods like onions and garlic can conceivably be neutralized by ingestion of Breath Assure. But there are facts that negate this assumption. Chewing on parsley after eating strong-smelling foods works because the oils get on the tongue and in the teeth, immediately neutralizing odors there. If you take a capsule to neutralize the odors, it will only be working on the odors in the stomach. This can help you to keep from having burps that smell like the strong foods you ate, but it will do nothing for the odors left on the teeth and tongue. And for the odors that come from the stomach, you have to wait until the capsule dissolves and the ingredients start to digest.

Most bad breath comes from bacteria on the tongue, and Breath Assure simply doesn't address that issue. Chewing gum and sucking on mints can help temporarily, but the best defense against the bad breath that comes from the inside of the mouth is by brushing your teeth and your tongue twice a day. You can take mints in between those times to keep your breath smelling its best. This works much better than taking capsules.
