Trendy tables and chairs mean just what the term indicates. Your choices should be sleek lined, boxy, even tall it that's the type of table you choose. And most importantly if you are looking for fun and trendy the chairs should not match. This applies whether your table is brand new or a hundred years old. It's the new rave and I must say it looks great. In fact after you see it you'll better understand. Not only does it look great it's also a great way to save some money. You can often find mismatched single chairs at a fraction of the original price. Do this on all four chairs and you achieve the look you want on a poor mans budget. Now isn't that great? When it comes to a décor look there are two styles that are currently very popular and I must say they are both at the opposite end of the spectrum. The distressed look has become extremely popular and I've got to tell you what a great way to decorate a room for cheap. Suddenly the idea is to beat your furniture up so it looks old and worn. Then you can paint or stain it as desired. My last project was a lot of fun! Take chains, rocks, hammers or whatever else you have handy and start beating away. It takes very little time to accomplish the look you want. And it's a great way to reduce your stress while having a little bit of fun. It looks especially great in a shabby chic décor or antique environment. The opposite end of that spectrum is the modern look which has sleek European lines that are crisp and clean. Nothing is large and bulk, and nothing is left to turn old. This goes for the table, chairs, and any other pieces in the room including the light fixtures. Dress the table with very modern looking candlesticks or pillar candles. Enjoy - it's going to look fantastic. Did you ever stop and wonder how we could land up with such opposing fashions popular at once? Well one of the reasons could be all the renovating that's going on with older homes. Many want to give the home that rustic lived in look but antiques can be quite costly. This style allows you to improvise to get the effect you wanted. The modern look is very yuppie driven and I guess all of us had our “style" when we were that age. But this look is very European combined with a little bit of retro.
