Buy Wisely When Purchasing Arm Chairs

Armchairs have been around since ancient times. They were found in the homes of wealthy Egyptians. The more prosperous the man of the house was the larger and more ornate the armchair would be. Today arm chairs are still a popular furniture choice but with so many options you need to choose wisely.

The practice of the wealthy owning big comfy chairs continued well into the 1950's when the bigger the chair the more wealthy the home owner.

Today wealth has nothing to do with armchairs but there are still hundreds of big comfy chairs on the market. Today this style of chair is very popular in the home however not all of them are made with quality in mind.

To get a great chair you don't necessarily have to buy new. Of course it depends what your décor target is. You'll want to find a pattern, color, and fabric that is complimentary to your room's décor.

The experts say whether you are buying new or used what's important to ensure quality is to buy products made in America such as American Leather, Jamestown, Craftsman, and Standard Furniture to name just a few. These companies are all known for quality products.

Watch for knock offs that look like high end chairs but are made of poor materials including the stuffing which is often inexpensive and thus breaks down very rapidly when used regularly.

To test the comfort level of the chair sit in the chair for about 20 minutes. Get comfy, put your feet up, do what you would normally do when sitting in your favorite chair.

You want to check things like the height of the back of the chair to make sure it is correct. You should also check the size of the cushion and the firmness of the cushion. Sometimes big fluffy cushions look more comfortable than they actually are. Every arm chair needs the sit test.

What's comfortable for one may not be comfortable for another. That's why the sit test is so important. Now if you are buying online this can be a bit of a challenge but there are ways to combat it.

The simplest is to visit your local furniture store and try ion a whole bunch of chairs taking notes as to what's comfy and what's not. The store might not be impressed with you but who cares?

I mean it is all about saving money. If they can offer you the best price you'll buy it there but if they can't then you'll be shopping elsewhere most likely online. That's the name of the game.

Choosing the fabric can also be a lot of fun. You can choose more traditional colors that blend or you can choose fun and funky colors. What you choose will depend a great deal on not only your room's décor but also the atmosphere of the room.

Is your room calm and relaxing? Is it fun and energetic? Is this a place where you curl up with a good book and read which usually leads to falling asleep or is this a room where you watch sports.

Every home should have one or more arm chairs that are so comfy you just want to curl up in them. So which ones will you be buying?
