The krugerrand gold coins do not have a face value unlike other gold bullion coins. The value is taken from the current gold price on the market. In history it is only the krugerrand bullion coin which has ever got its value in this manner. The coin was also the first to be measured and minted to exactly one ounce of fine gold. Not many investors know that up until 1994 it was illegal to import krugerrand gold coins because of a sanction in the 1970's and 1980's. 90% of the gold coin market was the krugerrand in 1980. Soon other countries began to follow suit and began to mint there own national gold coins. Canadian Maple Leaf, Australian Nugget, Britannia Coin, American Gold Eagle. It was the president of the old South African Republic Paul Krugman that bears the face on one side of the coin. On the other side of the coin one of the countries national symbols the springbok. The good news for investors is that due to recent enormous money creation by the major government in the world, precious metals offer the greatest investment opportunity of a lifetime. The precious Metal sector and commodities due to their scarcity offer the next huge investment opportunity. There has recently been and continues to be huge amounts of money being 'printed' by the various governments around the world, which is fantastic for gold investors. Only last week of writing this article it was released that the UK have just created another £25.5 Billion to bailout the Royal Bank of Scotland. That is a new bank bailout record of 45.5 Billion pounds and no one is sure how long it will last until more money has to be 'printed'. I think new investors should not just take any one persons advice when investing, whether it be in real estate or with Krugerrand Gold Coins.
