Buying a guitar
|
To determine the type of guitar you are going buy, consider what genre of music you are going to play or at least interested in at the moment. If you are into the heavier music, such as metal and hard rock, an electric guitar will suit your style. If you like folk music, you may consider a banjo as your choice of guitar, and if like mellow music, acoustic is a good pick. Price is a major factor when you are buying a guitar, if you are on a budget, when searching for a guitar, make sure you find a guitar that fits your price range. Second to the price, see if you are comfortable with the guitar, meaning is the guitar easy to hold and is every finger able to reach the fret board. The sound of guitar is essential, when you are trying out your guitar, listen to how long the each note lasts and if the notes sound full or thin, depending on your taste and style, this is your preference; but a good example is rock music, they often prefer fuller notes and a great impact. The appearance of a guitar can describe your personality and style. To some people, the appearance of the guitar may not matter, but to others it is another creative way to express their image and type of music they like. In heavy rock music, many guitarists prefer wacky colors and shapes, such as flaming pink V-shaped guitar. Most people that are into folk music prefer telecaster shaped guitar. The style of your guitar does not necessary appreciate the value of your guitar. If you are on a budget and cannot afford to purchase a unique guitar, you customize your guitar inexpensively by putting stickers. Many artist these days, such as Green Day use stickers to decorate their guitar. It is affordable and this creates a one-of-a-kind guitar that no one guarantees to have. If you are unable to buy a new guitar, you can always find local stores or pawnshops that sell second-hand guitars for a fair price, usually for 100-150 dollars. Although they may contain a couple of dents and you do not have a larger selection to choose from; nevertheless, you are still able to play the guitar. Every guitar needs its protection, so be sure to buy a case to keep your guitar from getting damaged. There are two different types of cases, hard-shell and soft-shell cases. Hard-shell cases are relatively more expensive than soft-shell cases, but they tend to keep your guitar more protected; however, they are also heavier. Soft-shell cases are inexpensive and easier to carry, many come with a back strap that enables you to use it as a backpack. Try striking up a deal with the dealer when you are buying a guitar, he or she may give you a discount on the case, it's worth a shot. If you are a buying an acoustic guitar, the wood selection is endless, ranging from ash, to cherry to rosewood to bitch and even more. The wood actually minimizes the amount of dings and improves the tone of guitar. The strings are also very important, if you are beginner, I suggest you buy a guitar with nylon strings, it does not hurt as much as steel strings, but if you cannot stand the pain, you can try calluses; although they may be difficult at first when you are playing the guitar, it will minimize the pain. If you are buying an electric guitar, you have to buy tons of other accessories, such as amplifiers and hordes that can become quite costly. However, you do not need an amplifier if you are not planning on joining a band. Guitars can be quite expensive, but depending on your style and preference, it can vary. Have fun with your guitar and make some quality music. About The Author: Jason Petrina is the Editor and Publisher of Article Click.
