Callouses - Tips for Caring for Them

When pressure is on the feet, often callouses occur. This can not only be unsightly, but they can end up being a bit painful as well. The callouses occur to help keep your feet padded. In some cases they get to the place where they need to be groomed. It's important that you take proper care of your feet when this occurs. So, here are several great tips for caring for foot callouses that can really help.

Tip #1 - File Dry Callouses - The first tip that you can use to help care for the foot callouses you are dealing with is to start out by filing them. A foot file can be used, and it helps to scrape away some of the rough skin that is there on your feet. However, before you try doing this, it's important that you make sure that the skin is dry or you won't get great results.

Tip #2 - Soak the Feet - Another tip for treating callouses on your feet is to soak your feet well. Put them in some nice warm water. You can soak them in a nice foot bath or get in the bathtub for awhile in order to let them soak. While you are soaking them, use a nice pumice stone of them very carefully to help get rid of the dead skin in the area.

Tip #3 - Try OTC Creams - You'll find that there are a variety of over the counter creams that are designed for the feet to get rid of foot callouses. Consider trying one of these creams yourself. They can help to reduce or even remove the callouses that you are dealing with. However, it is important that you only use these creams the way that they are designed to be used, so make sure that you carefully read the directions and follow them as ewll.

Tip #4 - Moisturize Daily -Keeping your feet moisturized on a daily basis can be a huge help as well. Use a nice cream or lotion to help moisturize them. This should be done each day if you want the very best results.

Tip #5 - Use Shoe Inserts - Last of all, in order to combat the callouses on your feet, using shoe inserts can help. There are special silicone shoe inserts that you can get from a podiatrist or even a pedicurist that can help. Also, making sure that you wear shoes that fit right can help you to prevent the foot callouses from occurring as well.
