Capri Sun Purses in Ten Easy Steps

Everyone loves to recycle these days. To be environmental friendly and ecosystem practical understanding is the newest trend in civilized communities and households. Who says that you can't make a difference? These days you can use the everyday garbage you would normally send to the city dump for useful purposes and crafting projects. Perhaps one of my favorites is the Capri Sun purses. These little things are marvelous and simply amazing. Better yet, you can make them in only a few hours. One person trash is truly another person next crafting project.

Material Needed- 10 Capri Sun juice bags- Double faced sewing or craft tape- Universal sewing machine needle- Double thick sewing thread- Seam ripper

1. Drink the juice! Yep, you can drink 10 of those little Capri Sun drinks. You can choose to drink all the same flavor; you can choose to drink a variety of different kinds. Just don't try to drink them all by yourself and all at once.

2. Use a seam ripper and rip the take the seam across the top along the back apart. Watch out for any juice that may be lingering. I suggest rinsing out the Capri Sun pouches and letting them dry overnight.

3. Now use your fingers and press the dried pouches flat. You should have a flat Capri Sun pouch with what was the back and front of the old pouch on one side now, and an all metallic looking side to the other side.

4. Now you will want to set two of the pieces side by side. Getting the double sided tape, put the tape on the outer edge of one of the long sided lengths. Now connect it to the underside of the other length. This will reinforce the length ways of the future purse. Do this a total of three times or use six of the Capri Sun pouches.

5. Using an extra heavy sewing needle, use a zip-zap stitch and sew down the middle where you put the tape. Now you should be looking at three sets of two Capri Sun pouches side by side. Each pair should have a zig-zag pattern down the center.

6. Fold down the top of the silver pouches. This is to create a hem on top of the pouches. Be sure to make this hem on the inside and not the outside!

7. Now add the handles to two sets of pouches. To make a handle, cut a pouch in half-length wise. Now sew the two pieces together end to end. Now get each end and sew itinto the middle of two of the double pieced Capri Sun pouches.

8. Now sew four of the Capri Sun pouch pieces into a box. Make sure to back stitch near the edges to avoid the corners. Sewing the corners is dang near impossible! Make sure that the handles are opposite one another.

9. Now sew the last of the Capri Sun pouches to the bottom. This creates a bottom for your pouch.

10. Hem the top silver edging for good measure around the handles.

There you have it! A Capri sun purse in ten easy to follow steps. Of course, when you are finished with this fine example of recycling, you would be amazed at what you can do with Kool-aid packages!
