Cartoon Dog

Creating cartoon dogs isn't as hard as you might think. They are fun to look at and the are simple enough to make. When you look at a cartoon dog on paper you may say that there is no way you would ever be able to create one. However, when you break it down into small steps it is definitely something you can do. If you are willing to take some time to learn how to draw a cartoon dog, you will be very proud of your achievements. If you follow these simple instructions you will have the process down in no time at all.

Take a look at the finished cartoon dog on this page. That is exactly what you will end up with when you have finished all the steps. You are going to be delighted to show your completed cartoon dog to your friends and to your family. Just make sure you take a close look at each step and that you take your time to do it properly before moving on to the next step.

You will notice that each of the illustrations offer some red lines. Those are what you need to follow to draw your cartoon dog. You will also see gray lines. Those are in place to show you what you have already created in the previous steps. This layout helps you to concentrate on the new additions without any problems. You will also want to refer to the description of what you doing before you actually start to draw it.

Start out by drawing two oval shapes. This will be for the head and for the nose. The body of the dog is going to be in the shape of a potato. With the use of two short lines you can create a neck to attach them. For the eyes you will make two U's but the need to be inverted. A triangle shape will help you get the distinct look for the nose to be complete. The ears will be made from two curved tubes but you one to leave one of them without an end to it. A J shape is going to help you to make your front leg on the left hand side.

Now you are ready to create an oval that is oddly shaped and then three straight lines. This is how you will create the front leg on the right side. With the same type of layout, make an oval and two straight lines along with a large J shape to create a back leg. For the tail, just do what looks like the end of a question mark. Now you are ready to complete the face for your cartoon dog.

Using short lines and J shapes you can make pupils, irises, and the eyelids. You want to define the nostrils by placing Y shapes and connecting them to thin ovals you have created. The mouth can be made from two J shapes that are parallel to each other. A U shape is all you need to make your cartoon dog a collar. Of course it will need paws so add some Y shapes to completed them. You will define the chest and back with U and Y shapes.
