Cedar Vs Fir Sauna
|
There are tow great choices in wood cedar and fir. There are several reasons why cedar is the best choice and used more often than fir. Fir is much more prone to splinters and when you are building a sauna you dont want splinters. In fact you need a wood that is strong and pliable. Cedar has all of these qualities. On the other hand the fir works great for framing your sauna. Fir has a very light grain to the wood which is why it splinters so easily. The fir isnt a great choice for your sauna but it can be used for benches, and other accessories. Cedar is also a much prettier wood than fir. Although fir is attractive it simply cant compete with cedar. You can leave it in its natural state and it will look great for many years to come. How disappointed would you be if you build your sauna outdoors and then discover within just a couple of months that the wood has bowed. This happens quickly with fir so better to rely on Cedar road. Cedar has a long history and it definitely has been used for centuries to provide quality products for both the deck and sauna. And theres a reason why it has been used for centuries so dont be too quick to throw out such a wonderful choice? No matter what size or style of sauna you decide on using cedar wood rather than fir wood can make your spa not only last longer but look better. Youll need to decide how big? Are you looking for a cozy sauna for two or are you planning to have the entire family use it? Its easy to find a sauna that will hold 8 to 10 people. But before ordering make sure youve got the room you need. Fir sauna or cedar sauna? My votes with cedar. Do your own research and then decide.
