Chasecom - Communications for the Small Business
|
Though Chasecom was not a large company to begin with, it developed a partnership with a much larger company, SBC Communications, in order to get the backing and capitol that it needed to keep doing business in the most innovative ways. This expanded what the smaller company was able to provide for its customers. Rather than broadening their customer base to include larger corporations, however, Chasecom chose to stay focused on helping small businesses. Small business owners benefitted by having even more services available to them, while still getting the personal service that they needed to thrive. It was actually a smart business decision for Chasecom to stay focused on serving small businesses. Other telecommunication service companies were intent on growing and attracting the services of larger businesses so that they could retain larger accounts and realize bigger profits. What was happening, though, was that as these telecommunication companies grew, smaller businesses were left behind in the search for bigger game. By keeping their focus on small businesses, Chase stayed with an often overlooked market, and profits were showing that this was a wise business decision. One of the things that Chasecom has done to give back to the communities that have provided them with steady business is the formation of the Telecom Opportunity Institute with SBC. Concerned about the lack of computer literacy in low income communities, Chase and SBC provided free education in computer technology to children in struggling communities, as well as to many schools in Texas. This program has gone a long way in helping children in Texas communities to improve their learning and study skills, as well as develop a foundation for higher education and gainful employment in the future.
