Check Out These Holiday Beverage Ideas

The holiday season is fast approaching and as we busy ourselves making on the preparations for entertaining guests we also need to decide what type of beverages to serve. Check out these holiday beverage ideas which are good for any holiday or party.

Holidays and get togethers are meant to be fun and you shouldn’t be spending your time stressing which too often is exactly what happens. Just when you finally get your menu figured out you realize you haven’t spent anytime deciding what beverages to serve.

Well you can start with the traditional. A red wine is almost always a hit. Barberra red wine is great with Italian foods like pizza, pasta, or lasagna. Carbenet Sauvignon is perfect for chocolate, roast lamb, or steak. If you are planning a chocolate fondue be sure to check this one out! Merlos is perfect for barbecued meats, Pinot Noir is a great choice for salmon, seafood, or lamb.

If you are looking for a sipping wine think light and fruity. In fact you can get a little creative if you like and mix champagne and red wine for a unique festive flavor.

Punches are also worth considering. Not only can you make it in advance leaving you with one less thing to worry about during your get together, you can make them fun and theme orientate. At Christmas time a Cranberry punch is ever so delicious. You’ve got your red now let your creative juices flow and add the rest of the trimmings, green maraschino cherries, perhaps a green sprig around the base of the bowl?

You might consider making two batches of punch an alcoholic and a non alcoholic one. It’s always nice to offer up some nice non alcoholic drinks for the designated drivers or those individuals that prefer not to drink.

Teas are also a beverage worth serving. Serve both hot and cold teas. Green, black, Oolong, and Earl Grey are all nice hot teas that most people like. For cold teas you can serve ice tea, lemon tea, or get creative and whip up a few of those fabulous tea drinks that Starbucks serves up.

For heaven’s sake don’t forget the coffee – it’s the staple beverage of any get together. And what’s really great is that these days you don’t have to be satisfied with just regular coffee. You can serve up a variety of gourmet or flavored coffee. Kona coffee is very popular but of course there are many other choices. If you have a specialty coffee shop in your area be sure to visit them for some unique blends and ideas. Of course you can also find a great selection online.

Hi balls are always a hit, just be sure you have enough choices for everyone. If you stock the bar with whiskey, rum, vodka, and gin and then make sure you’ve got a good selection of mixes you should have everyone covered.

If you are feeling really creative and want to have your guests talking about party for weeks then why not serve up martinis or cocktails. What fun you can have creating your very one line of martini drinks. In fact why not name them while you are at it.

The holiday season often means festive parties. Of course there are plenty of other times during the year when we like to throw a party and entertain. These holiday beverage ideas will add the finishing touches to an evening of good food and good friends.
