Choose An Imported Golf Cart Dealer

The dealer you choose to buy from will be as important to you as the model of cart you choose to buy. After all it is the dealer that will service your cart ensuring it is always in optimum running condition. So when you are choosing an imported golf cart dealer there are some important things you should ask yourself.

1. How long have the dealer been in business?
2. How much parts inventory does the dealer stock?
3. If the dealer must order parts what is the average wait time?
4. How many technicians are on staff?
5. Do you feel comfortable in the service center?
6. Do they service on site?
7. Does the dealer have a guaranteed turn around time for repairs?
8. Do they sell service contracts?
9. What type of warranty do their golf carts offer?
10. Who are they authorized dealers for?

Take some time to visit the dealerships service center and talk with the staff there. Meet the service writer, the technicians. Ask questions and see if you are comfortable with the answers you get.

Check out the service department and what others think about it. Do some reference checks and check with the BBB to see if they have had any complaints lodged. Check and see how much stock they carry and for what lines.

Make sure the center is factory authorized for the cart you are planning to purchase. This means they will be qualified to do repairs and they will have authorized parts in stock and available for order. No knock offs here. Being authorized means they have access to OEM parts and it also means that the technicians are factory trained. This can give you piece of mind that you are receiving only the best there is to offer.

It also means that should they be unable to resolve a problem they have access to resources that will help them. It's a great resource to have!

You should also feel comfortable with both the service staff and sales staff. There needs to be a feeling of trust. You want to feel that when you ask a question you are getting an honest answer.

Maintenance of any golf cart is always important. Gasoline engines are going to require more maintenance then electric will because they have things like spark plugs and air filters that need maintaining. As well there are oil changes.

With an electric cart the most important maintenance is the batteries which will need to be changed every few year and will cost around $500.

Whether electric or gas you should always have the regular maintenance done. Follow the manufacturers recommended schedule. Don't forget the little things either. Check things like tire pressure or topping up the batteries. With proper care you can expect 10 to 15 years life out of a golf cart.

You might also consider purchasing a service contract which will cover all maintenance. Your dealer should be able to provide you with scheduled maintenance onsite.

Choosing an imported golf cart dealer is an important part of your decision to purchase a golf cart. Do your research!
