Choosing Outdoor Deck Lighting
|
There is much more to it than just lighting up the space. The lighting plays an important role in creating the right atmosphere. Too much lighting and it causes glare making your guests nervous. Too little light and conversation can be difficult. Installing the right lighting means you can no use your deck into the early morning hours. Disney isnt the only one with a magical wonderland. Its no longer just a daylight room for entertainment. Dim the lights and enjoy a night show from the stars above, perhaps a candlelight dinner for two. Add a little more lighting and its time to enjoy a little dancing and perhaps some good food. You want your lighting to be unobtrusive and out of the way but at the same time very usable. You want to choose fixtures that are classy and elegant and fit the mood of you are trying to create. Paver lights are always a great choice for the area you entertain in. Waist level lighting is great at stairs that might lead onto the deck. You can choose different lamp colors to create different effects. Its also a good choice for walkway entrances. Disc form lights are fantastic because they can be danced on, walked on, and even driven on so take the extras and place them in the driveway. Consider incorporating plants with your lighting giving your space a very warm and inviting feel. If youve ever been to Vegas you know exactly what Im talking about. Its a very relaxing effect. If you are going to be serving some fabulous meals off that new grill you might want to add additional lighting around the cooking and preparation area so that you can see what you are doing if darkness has set in. Seating areas where some great conversation is suppose to take place you want to have lighting that makes it easy to visually see the people seated in the area but that isnt so bright as to remove the relaxed feeling. If youre on a tight budget you can save a substantial amount by purchasing your outdoor lighting online and not just the lighting for your deck but for all of your yard. In fact you could save as much as 50% and you get to choose a lot more options than your local hardware store will have. Make sure the lighting you purchase is meets or exceeds all regulations for your area. You should also make sure you check with your local officials to ensure no permits are required for adding your deck lighting. And of course you will want to hire a qualified electrician to install all of your lighting. Electricity is not meant to be played with by those not qualified. Your outdoor deck lighting is going to look great adding that right touch to create the perfect atmosphere for entertaining.
