Choosing a Wedding Catering Company in Bristol

So you're getting married in Bristol and you're looking around for a wedding catering company? You're aware of what you eat and where it comes from but you're wondering if your wedding catering company care as much as you? All around bristol there is the most amazing agricultural land from the fruit farms in Hereford and Worcester to the plains of Somerset. The variety of produce that comes from these counties is enormous especially around the wedding season and so there's really no need for a catering company to be buying their produce from suppliers that source from further than eighty miles away.

Every time you open the paper or turn on the television there seems to be more discussion about buying from close by to reduce food miles and in Bristol there's absolutely no excuse for a wedding catering company to shop anywhere other than its back yard. Inorder to serve fish at your wedding your caterer might have to look to Cornwall but they should know and be able to advise you which species is not being over fished. If you were to have beef then maybe you should look to either the farms at Barrow Gurney or slightly further a field in Hereford. There's wonderful beef to be had fromReservoir Farm just south of Bristol or perhaps Severn Vale for organic beef from a breed called Aberdeen Xs. If you're wedding is in October then there are plenty of speciality fungae to be had from the woods around Bristol- your local wedding caterer should know foragers who would guard their locations fiercely. There's simply nothing as special as knowing that the food that you're eating comes from very close-by and, more importantly, hasn't undergone any modern methods to preserve it for long distance travel. Any time that you need to employ the services of a catering company, in Bristol or not always ask where their suppliers are and if they use intensive farming methods. Your caterer should be keen to answer this question and should show passion, commitment and specialist knowledge when talking about the origins of their ingredients.

Open your eyes to what's on your doorstep and you'll see that you don't need a catering company that souces from miles away in order to serve great food. Chefs know where their food comes from, they know good suppliers and if they're from Bristol they should at least have met the farmers whose produce they buy. Good food starts in the field where it is grown or raised, and the chef from the catering company that will look after you at your wedding feast can only be as good as the food the farmer can grow.
