Today there are more Christian and family oriented products than ever to help you draw closer to God and teach your children the spiritual essentials that can help them as they journey into adulthood. While it has become more difficult than ever to keep children away from the unwholesome influences of the modern world, there are some products that are actually making a little easier. The Christian oriented product market is actually growing faster than ever; especially with products that are geared towards youth and teens. While this news may be surprising, kids are eating up the new lines of products that are continually being release and marketers have found a niche market that is both fulfilling and profitable. One of the biggest concerns among parents today are violence and sex laden video games. Although parents do their best to keep the games out of the hands of their impressionable teens, it’s a difficult battle to win. The solution very well may lie in Christian alternative video games. So, are kids really interested in Christian oriented video games without all the gore, violence and sex? Judge for yourself. At the current time the Christian gaming industry totals more than $100 million in annual sales. Since the tragic events of September 11, 2001 both kids and parents have begun to attend church on a more regular basis, which insider experts believe may be adding to the significant increase in Christian oriented product purchases. Individuals and families are trying to get back to basics and find develop their spiritual sides. As a result the Christian oriented products market has literally exploded with sales. Christian board and card games sales, for example, have tripled since 1999. Coincidence? Probably not. The one Christian oriented product that isn’t seeing an huge increase in sales; surprisingly, is the Bible. Bible publishers and distributors report that while teens and youth are more into Christian oriented books, games and gaming systems than ever before, they don’t read their Bible as much as past generations. While this may be disheartening news to some people, there are alternative solutions on the horizon. Games, interactive versions in particular, are being produced in such a way as to allow kids to view Biblical scenes in an effort to help them learn the important messages of the Bible in a nontraditional format. Christian oriented comic books have also seen a tremendous increase in sales. With superheroes based on characters from the Bible, these comic books provide references to scripture along with question and answer series to help kids sort through real life problems. While these comic books are mainly aimed at the younger set of youth; around age twelve, older kids and teens aren’t being left out. A number of publishers are now producing teen magazines that are very similar in nature to the slick and glossy covers at most newsstands but with one major difference. These magazines come packed with spiritual messages and even scripture references. There’s enough teen appealing information to keep them interested; however. The apparel market is one niche that isn’t being left behind by the explosion in sales. Millions of T-shirts with Christian messages are sold every year. One of the reasons that many Christian oriented product vendors have been so successful is that they have put a creative twist on their marketing methods. While five or ten years ago it was virtually impossible to find Christian related products anywhere but a Christian bookstore, today it’s easy to log onto the Internet and find them listed on sites such as eBay, Amazon and even private websites. This has made these products much more accessible; which has only added to the buying craze.
