Clarity Enhanced Diamonds

When you are buying diamonds, whether for yourself or someone you love, there are many things you'll want to consider. After all, you want to make sure that you get great value in a diamond for the money that you pay. You'll want to consider the quality of the diamond, the carat, and of course the price. However, you may want to consider clarity enhanced diamonds. Not sure what they are? Well, let's take a look at them and whether or not this is something that you really want to have yourself.

Around for 20 Years

When it comes to clarity enhanced diamonds, you will find that they have actually been around for more than twenty years now. Essentially these types of diamonds are especially treated in order to enhance the clarity of the diamond. In some cases though not all diamonds can actually go through this process, since the process can only repair some of the flaws that may be in these diamonds. However, even though clarity enhanced diamonds have been around for some time, they may not always really be what you are looking for in a diamond.

Controversial Treatment

The treatment method for clarity enhanced diamonds is quite controversial. You'll find that the method includes taking a clear substance and actually putting it into the imperfections that are on a diamond. This makes the imperfections hard to see, since they are filled. The clarity grade definitely goes up, but these treatments are not permanent. This means that over time, the clarity may be diminished as the treatment wears away. This treatment also makes it hard to repair the diamond as well, since the filling is very sensitive to temperature. So, in the diamond industry today, you'll find that this method of treatment is quite controversial.

Check the Certificate

Before you even buy a diamond, you should check out the certificate to see if it's one of the many clarity enhanced diamonds out there today. Often the dealers won't actually tell you about the treatment unless you ask about it. So, you need to ask outright and make sure that you check out the certificate as well. Often you'll find that there is a loss of value when the flaws are reduced as well. If you are going to buy diamonds, make sure that you buy from reputable labs, but also make sure you ask and also check out the certificate if you want to avoid buying one of these clarity enhanced diamonds.
