|
Regardless of whether you take your martini shaken or stirred, there are plenty of inventive martini drink recipes out there to make sure that you, and your guests, never become bored with this classic drink. There are plenty of ways that you can experiment with martini drinks to come up with interesting and exciting combinations, but first you need to learn the basics of mixing traditional martini drinks. Today, one of the biggest debates regarding martini drinks is the question of whether to use gin or vodka. Traditionally, gin was used to create martini drinks; today the many different varieties of vodka are used as well. In regards to whether you shake or stir your martini drinks, it really doesn't matter much in the end; unless of course you happen to have a guest who is quite serious about the matter. If you are entertaining, it is always a good idea to ask a guest's preferences regarding the preparation of their martini before making assumptions. Some people feel that shaking a martini gives it a much more robust taste and also, incidentally, keeps the drink colder; while others prefer the more gentle taste of a shaken martini. To avoid a serious debacle, always ask to be sure. When you're first beginning to mix drinks, and martini drinks, especially; it's a good idea to always go for accurate measurement. As you gain more experience in drink mixing you may well be able to 'eyeball' it just fine. Until you get the hang of professionally mixing martini drinks, you might want to invest in some good quality measuring barware such as shot glasses and jiggers. This can help you to quickly and easily ascertain the meaning behind specific martini drink recipes. Finally, if you have the resources; it might be a good idea to invest in a small bar fridge to keep in your home bar. This will allow you the benefit of storing your gin or vodka, whichever, you prefer; in a cooler environment. Many martini connoisseurs claim that this is definitely the secret behind creating fabulous martini drinks. As a side note, it's also a good way to chill your glasses; which is necessary not only for martini drinks but also for many other chilled and frozen drink combinations. Now; onto creating fabulous and interesting martini drinks. You will probably note that there are many interesting and creative recipes out there. As you gain experience, you might even come up with your own signature martini drinks. Regardless of whether you borrow someone else's recipe or develop your own, the secret behind creating quality martini drinks is to always use quality ingredients. Don't give into the temptation to cut corners on the cost and quality of your liquor. It will show in the final drink product. Also, always make a point to use clean, clear ice. If you are in doubt about your own water supply; go the extra mile and purchase ready-made ice from a reliable vendor. It's worth it. Finally, if you are really into creating martini drinks; no martini is complete without being served in a traditional martini glass. Of course, you could serve it in any other type of glassware you happen to have on hand; but what would be the point? Invest in some good quality martini glassware and you'll be glad you did.
