Rule number one: It does not cost you a dime to wear a smile. People always respond well to a pleasant smile and you will feel better, too. Rule number two: Accept compliments in an elegant way. If you are used to say nothing or act indifferently when someone tells you how good you look, you must change your attitude. A real lady always knows how to take a compliment. Just thank politely, smile and that is about it. Rule number three: Stop bullying your husband and children during social events. There may be situations when they can drive mad with their behavior, but learn how to appease such situations with calm and understanding. Your efforts will be rewarded and the other people will see you as a classy and elegant person. Rule number four: Learn how to answer the phone politely. Just say hello and state your name. That will instantly show the person on the other end of the phone line that you are polite and the respect you show it will be shown to you, too. If you feel you cannot answer the phone because you feel bad for some reason, just let the answering machine do its job and call back later the person calling you. Rule number five: A real lady never swears or curse, no matter how bad the situation looks. How would you feel seeing a woman spitting out four letter words and gesturing like a drunkard? You would not think she is a lady, no matter how expensive her clothes are. So, refrain from using such methods to solve a situation. Be calm and balanced about things around you. Rule number six: Never give a show during social events. This means that if you are not much of a friend with the bottle and you cannot drink more than a glass of wine, you should not drink more than a glass of wine, simply put. If you end up acting like a low class woman, that will be nobody's fault, but yours. Rule number seven: Clothes are important. We said at the beginning of the article that you do not have to spend a fortune to look classy. It is true, but this does not mean that it does not matter what you wear. But if your clothes are always clean, pressed and without any threads hanging loose, this is enough. Some discreet makeup also helps to your general look. Rule number eight: Watch your tongue. This means more than avoid cursing and swearing. You must use English language properly, forming words with clear accent, so anybody can understand what you say. Rule number nine: Learn how to turn down people. Yes, you may think it is rude to turn down a request, but there are times in life when you have to say no to people. It is a simple fact. Of course, you must know how to do it properly. The key for doing this is to answer such requests with a polite refusal. Even if people insist, just continue to refuse politely, without giving room for any requests for further explanations. Rule number ten: Learn to walk gracefully. A real lady is known also by her way of walking, with the head up high, straight spine and a graceful position of her shoulders. No matter where you are, remember these simple rules, and you will feel very good, proud and confident. Rule number eleven: Do not neglect personal hygiene. If you want to be classy and elegant, hygiene is a must. Starting with your fingernails and ending with your hair, your hygiene must be perfect. Take some time to do your manicure and pedicure. Keep the nails shortly cut and clean. You can apply polish on them but do not let it show chipped and exfoliated. Keep your teeth clean, shower every day and do not sleep without taking out your makeup. Pay attention to your hair, keep it clean, shiny and bright and you will see how easy is to make a good impression from the moment you get out of the house.
