Cold Sore Cures - Are there Legitimate Ones?

When you are suffering from cold sores, you are desperate to find some cold sore cures. You might try something different every time you have an outbreak, but you are still looking for the one thing that will finally really do the trick. Is there a cold sore remedy that can get rid of them quickly and cleanly? Do cold sore remedies exist that can make the problem easily dealt with and not the concern that it usually is? There are some people and manufacturers that would like to tell you that they have the cold sore cures you are seeking.

Do a search on the Internet for cold sore cures and you will find a lot of claims. Common sense will tell you that a lot of these claims are made by questionable people and companies who are more than happy to take your money and not give you much in return. Then again, hope will make you keep looking for what might be the one or two that are really legitimate. When you talk about cold sore cures, however, you aren't really talking about curing them altogether. You are talking about lessening the severity and duration of outbreaks.

When you are talking about shortening the time that you suffer from cold sores, then there really is hope for you. You will see advertisements for cold sore treatments instead of cold sore cures, and these could be perfectly legitimate. There are treatments that lessen the pain of cold sores, and some that have tentatively proven that they shorten the outbreaks. Many of these are natural treatments, which is always a good way to go. Tea tree oil is one natural substance that many people claim helps dry up cold sores faster than if you left them alone; other people swear by a mixture of baking soda and water applied to the cold sores.

So instead of looking for cold sore cures, you need to focus on cold sore treatments. You can talk to your doctor first; he probably has some medication that should at least help ease the pain. He may be able to prescribe something that shortens the duration of the outbreak, or he can suggest a home treatment that will work. There are things that will work, and different people prefer different treatments. Talk to your doctor, do some research, and even talk to other people who suffer from cold sores. Eventually you should find what works best for you.
