College Students Should Get A Good Halogen Desk Lamp

You're in another league now. High school's a thing of the past and now you're consentrating on your future. You'll need practical task lighting for those long nights of studying and that's why college students should get a good halogen desk lamp!

It's important to prevent fatigue and eye strain which can lead to headache. The first few months at school can be the worst as your eyes need time to adjust to the long hours on the computer and reading, so a proper desk lamp is very important.

There are many different styles of desk lamps on the market including the traditional banker's lamp, and the architect's desk lamps, but halogen desk lamps provide some of the best lighting at a very affordable price. Holkoetter is one manufacturer that has some terrific contemporary styles that are worth checking out.

No matter which desk lamp you choose you need to make sure that you place it correctly to ensure that you do not have hand shadows streaking across your work. This means if you are right handed you will need to place your lamp on the left side of your desk. You also want to make sure that the lighting provided is adequate to your entire work space.

There are other types of lighting that can be used to compliment your desk lamp. Floor lamps provide good general room lighting. Fan desk lamps work great for keeping you cool helping to pull heat away from your computer. Clip on lighting work well for spot lighting such as a reading light on your bed, and lava lamps are a great way to set the mood in your college dorm. And what a great way to zone out watching the blobs slowly transform.

But with all those choices, at the end of the day a desk lamp is the most functional lighting for a student and a must have. Whether you're writing note or working on your computer a correctly placed desk lamp will eliminate glare and thus reduce eye strain. You can also get desk lamps that have an adjustable arm which provides lots of flexibility.

Not all of your reading will be done at your desk. Chances are occasionally you'll curl up in your favorite chair or prop yourself in bed so you'll need other lighting besides your desk lamp. You might have excellent general room lighting and that's great, but sometimes that's just way too much light and can also be tiring. That's where some of the other lighting choices come in handy like clip lamps or table lamps.

Fluorescent bulbs use to be the number one choice but today halogen is. Both work very much better than standard incandescent bulbs. Halogen produces a nice white light that is sharp so it's perfect for reading. A complaint with fluorescent has always been the greenish blue tones but today there are many different color range bulbs to choose from so that should no longer be a problem.

So the next question is what style? There are so many to choose from - contemporary, funky, trendy, eclectic, traditional, art deco, and even antique. You'll have to combine functionality and dcor to pick the right lamp. Shopping for that perfect lamp can be a lot of fun and with all the online lighting websites your selection couldn't be better and there's some great pricing too!

If you're a serious college student you need to get a good halogen desk lamp to keep your eyes happy and healthy and help you earn the best grades you can.
